THE MOTEL [Thai film location]

“The whole thing about making films in an organic film on location is that it’s not all about characters, relationships, and themes. It’s also about place and the poetry of place. It’s about the spirit of what you find, the accidents of what you stumble across.”

Mike Leigh

When we travel, we would look for a perfect place to stay comfortably but when we go look for a place to film, sometimes a perfect place might not be perfect for the story. We went to one of the small motels in Bangkok that wasn’t quite gorgeous for staying but could be elegant for the stories.

Let us give you a tour.

In the movies, they are always tricky about where the movies were filmed. In my view, this location in Bangkok could pretend to be a small hotel in China or other places in Southeast Asia as well.

After we got to the lobby, we asked the manager to go look around. The manager wasn’t too stick, he let us go by ourselves and told us to get in only the rooms that open.

Walking by ourselves in an unfamiliar location at night made us felt a little nervous. It looked like something could come out anytime.

Each floor had around 10-12 rooms. Some were close and some were waiting to be occupied.

And this was how the bedroom looks like.

We could see the street outside from some of the rooms.

The restroom might not be perfect but for sure, it did work.

After spending half an hour scouting around, we thought this location was really good for several movie genres such as crime, horror, thriller, or maybe drama as well.
